RIVAL supplies the smoke caste system to Leopard 2 tanks

Top-shelf quality and delivery ability is a must in the defense industry and in RIVAL’s collaboration with German Krauss-Maffei Wegmann GmbH & Co (KMW). The collaboration currently revolves around the production of the smoke caste system to Leopard 2 tanks.

There is a lot at stake when collaborating with customers in the defense industry. “If we fail to deliver the highest quality, it can have catastrophic consequences. It’s about life or death,” RIVAL’s CCO and partner Christian Aarup says. “Our employees know how important it is to focus 100 percent on quality and delivery on time. They make a huge effort to solve all tasks to the letter.”

The right equipment for complex productions
The two experienced industrial technicians Lene Kruse Jensen and Jakob Koch Pedersen both have a big responsibility in making sure that everything goes as planned when producing the parts for the Leopard 2 tanks. Respectively, they operate on the Mazak FH-8800 and on the DMG MORI DMU 65 with an associated PH cell.

“The combination of the right employees and the right equipment is a prerequisite for us to succeed in delivering exactly what has been agreed with the customer,” Christian says.

“That’s why we have invested millions in our industry’s wildest equipment. At the same time, we work hard to develop our processes and procedures further in order to top-tune our entire internal value chain. Our production set-up today works with extreme stability and precision.”

Joint development on common goals
For a number of years, RIVAL has put partnerships on the agenda in relation to both customers and suppliers. “We have often talked about valuable collaborations, but partnerships are more than that,” Christian says. “They commit in a different way, demand respect and orderliness – and give unique results.”

“Our partnership with KMW is a proof of that,” he says. “By playing with open cards on both sides of the table, we have significantly better prerequisites to meet KMW’s future demands on capacity and competences. It provides a unique basis for continuing the development of the collaboration, which both the customer and we greatly appreciate.”
